A Note from Our New CEO

Change is in the air at Ecrebo! On top of our recent funding news, we are pleased to announce David Buckingham as our new CEO. A UK native, David joins us from Aimia Shopper Insights in New York, bringing over 25 years of experience in the retail and CPG insights and analytics space. After serving as president for North America at Aimia for four years, the opportunity to lead Ecrebo through the next phase of our journey and return home to the UK was too hard to resist for David.

I’ve been on the job as Ecrebo’s new CEO for just over a week now, and I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to our blog community and beyond! After proudly leading the Aimia Shopper Insights team in New York for the past four years, it feels great to be back in the UK and leading the team at Ecrebo.

Funnily enough, after having to work hard to convince my wife to move to the US in the first place, I’ve recently had to work equally hard to convince her to return! Seriously though, we loved our time in the US, but we both agreed that from a career perspective, this was an absolute no-brainer. Fortunately, she and our three kids seems to have settled back in ever so well, which is very pleasing.

Ecrebo has everything somebody in my position could want: a unique technological capability with an exciting product roadmap, very smart people who want to be a part of the company’s future, an impressive client base and an investment that sets us up well for growth. More importantly, we have a technology that truly resonates with our clients and prospects, to the extent where our headroom is seemingly unlimited. This is exactly the sort of opportunity that I've been building up to my whole career and I’m truly excited to be here.

To ensure that we continue delivering the highest levels of support to our customers and are always innovating our point of sale marketing platform, we have made a few changes to our senior management team. I’m pleased to report that Dr Hassan Hajji, Ecrebo Co-Founder, has been named Chief Product Officer, and David Vernon, Co-Founder, will serve as Chief Customer Officer. Hassan will focus on developing Ecrebo’s point of sale marketing platform, driving innovation and overseeing the company’s product strategy. David will continue to strengthen customer relationships and build on the company’s culture of customer success and commitment to service. To round out our impressive team, both Sir Keith Mills, Air Miles and Nectar founder, and Joseph Schull, have been appointed to our board of directors.

These are exciting times for our company, and for the retail industry in general. Personalisation is the name of the game and retailers are working hard to deliver targeted customer engagement that today’s shoppers have come to expect, whilst building long-term loyalty at the same time. Ecrebo’s technology is in a unique position to help retailers make good on shopper’s expectations and I am excited to be a part of the team that is poised to change the way the industry thinks about POS marketing.

I look forward to helping build on the success that the team has already achieved and continue the company’s impressive journey into the future.

David has already hit the ground running here at Ecrebo and the entire team is excited to have him here! As Ecrebo continues to grow internationally, with a focus on the US market, David’s experience in North America will be instrumental in positioning Ecrebo as the industry leader in powering in-store marketing.
