Job Purpose

Working within our client team with responsibility for software development. This role will involve some traveling to Retailers Development Labs

 

Main Duties

  • Develop and maintain efficient and reliable C++ code
  • Work with the existing team to help maintain code quality and sustainability
  • Find bugs and code bottlenecks, and provide solutions to these problems

Required Skills

  • Experience in writing clean, stable, and performant code
  • Understanding of the principles of OOD e.g. SOLID
  • Experience of TDD/BDD/ATDD
  • Understanding of the rules of simple design e.g. four rules of simple design
  • Curiosity:
    • Self-starter
    • Genuine interest is software development skills and learning new techniques
    • Own repository in Github/Gitlab?

Technical Stack:

  • Strong C++ developer with a good knowledge of low-level Windows internals. Note
    that the current codebase is C++03 (C++ standard from 2003) and Boost libraries, to support a
    wider range of Operating Systems. We are looking to migrate to more recent versions of C++.
  • Practical experience with STL and Boost libraries and algorithms
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of Windows API and Linux OS
  • Experience with the development of cross-platform multi-threaded client-server systems
  • Preferably familiar with Windows driver development (WDF/KMDF)
  • Proficient working knowledge of source control tools

Agile process:

  • Experience of Scrum or XP
  • Experience of  Scrum-style ceremonies
  • Understands the pros and cons of agile and waterfall
